About Judge Dolores Lozano

Judge Dolores Lozano was elected in November 2022 as the first woman and first minority to serve as Justice of the Peace for Precinct 2, Place 2, which covers parts of Southeast Houston and nearby cities. She grew up in Southeast Houston and was the first in her family to graduate from college, earning her degree at Baylor University.

Before the bench she worked in speech pathology and then in sports and entertainment events, and in 2018 she co-launched Impact Hub Houston. Her court hears evictions, small claims, traffic cases, and truancy. In 2024 she received a Texas Association of Counties Best Practice Award and a Texas Housers Award for an Eviction Diversion Initiative that connects landlords and tenants with education and resources.
